South Plainfield, NJ, Sept. 17, 2009 -- GENEWIZ, Inc., the leading provider of research-based DNA sequencing, has planned a series of webinars in September and October to help biomedical, agricultural, environmental, and other researchers become familiar with DNA sequencing best practices, and to optimize their results. The webinars are suitable for all levels of DNA sequencing users, and are offered free of charge.
These informational online webinar sessions are appropriate for academic, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and government researchers. Attending requires only a web browser and telephone line. Dr. Sarah Eckenrode, GENEWIZ Director of Technical Support, will be the presenter.
The first webinar, "DNA Sequencing 101: Mastering the Basics," is designed to assist researchers who are early in their understanding of DNA sequencing, and for any scientist wanting a refresher. Topics include practical information about DNA sequencing such as principles of DNA sequencing, how to design DNA sequencing primers, dilution calculations used in preparing DNA sequencing samples, and how to interpret DNA sequencing data with free software tools.
Two sessions of "DNA Sequencing 101" are offered:
The second webinar, "Getting a Great DNA Sequencing Reaction," is beneficial for intermediate and advanced sequencers, as well as for new users who have completed "DNA Sequencing 101." Topics include reading chromatograms to optimize sequencing reactions, difficult template sequencing including hairpins and GC-rich DNA, bacterial colony sequencing, the top 5 sequencing issues and how to resolve them, and practical tips for successfully sequencing PCR products.
"Getting a Great DNA Sequencing Reaction" is offered on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1:30 - 2:30 PM EDT.
